Barry P. Fraser

An Instructional Designer based in San Antonio, Texas

I grew up in Glasgow, Scotland where I lived and worked for 28 years. Yes I still have my accent! I got my Masters in Economics and Geography and then embraced my passion for education by training to become a teacher.

After several years of teaching a variety of subjects in Scotland I moved to San Antonio, Texas and began working in the Charter School Network. The freedom for curriculum design within a charter school was the beginning of my journey into resource creation and Instructional Design.

My Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the University of Glasgow, coupled with years of experience in training, coaching and mentoring teachers has proven to be a great asset in the ID world. I also get to flex my Economics and Statistics skills when examining analytics of training successes and conducting needs assessments so I feel like my entire career has been a perfect, albeit zig zagging, path to Instructional Design

Now I focus on using my skills to assess your specific need for training and establish clear desired outcomes. I work collaboratively with subject matter experts to design and implement focused and purposeful content. As a former teacher, I know the rigors of making content relatable and can work with you to define expectations and measurable standards for your employees.

Communication

Priority 1: Communication

Too often instructional designers will receive a simple brief and set to work. I will engage with you in continual correspondence. You will have ongoing access to the process and will be able to make edits as the work is completed.

Priority 2: Quality

If for any reason you feel unhappy with a quality issue in my work I will rectify your concern free of charge. I pride myself on high standards and you should too.

Priority 3: Relationships

In the industry of training employees it is crucial to engage everyone with respect. I have worked hard to develop my reputation and will put the same focus on maintaining our relationship. You can trust my ability to work with all of your people to get the job done.

"I enlisted Barry as the head mentor teacher in our mentor teacher program. So as to not make the program evaluative by me, I asked Barry to head, develop, and coordinate the coaches and mentees. Barry is a skilled trainer and educational coach with laser focus on operations, evaluations, and analytics. He was a leader at our school and an exemplar on classroom creativity, resource development, and pedagogy."

Dr. Abigail HasberryEducation Consultant & Principal

"I asked Barry to lead a system of teacher development and mentoring to help new teachers to hone their teaching skills. Barry was a strong collaborator, producing measurable gains for faculty with whom he worked, while contributing ideas, and constructive feedback that helped to guide the program's development."
